Thyroid Surgery
Surgical treatment of the thyroid gland is usually indicated for tumors or nodules of the gland, which could be benign or sometimes malignant. Other indications are generalized goiter “an enlargement of the gland “which causes compression symptoms with difficulty swallowing or difficulty breathing”, and sometimes causes a significant cosmetic problem for the patient.
Thyroid surgery also could be recommended for treatment of a hyperthyroidism which is hyper-functioning of the thyroid gland.
Part of the evaluation of thyroid conditions is performing thyroid ultrasound and ultrasound-guided biopsy, which is usually performed at Suede Surgical Care.
Dr. Suede is an expert in thyroid surgery for both benign and malignant conditions, utilizing nerve monitoring technique, to minimize the risk of recurrent laryngeal nerve injury and voice changes that could be one of the complications of thyroid surgery.
He performs outpatient thyroidectomy without the need for hospital stay except in selected patients, that assures quick recovery, and fast return to normal life activities.
